SA eight named for India Test

Gauteng North seals third at SA U-13 Champs

JOHADelareyVanTonder_Ace_6thHole_CropNNESBURG, 6 October 2016 – Ekurhuleni clinched their third successive Nomads SA Under-13 Championship title in formidable fashion at Killarney Country Club on Thursday, while Gauteng North narrowly lost the runner-up spot to North West.

Ekurhuleni claimed a roaring 53 stroke victory on 1161, while Gauteng North combined for 1214 to finish in third, just two shots shy of North West.

Congratulations are also in order for Delarey van Tonder from Waterkloof Golf Club, who achieved a hole-in-one at the Nomads SA Under-13 Championship! The Gauteng North junior aced the par-three sixth hole during the first round at Killarney Country Club. Continue reading

Gauteng A almost enjoyed a whitewash as the side swept to an 8 – 1 victory over Ekurhuleni, but in the second match in the top order of the A-Section, Gauteng North had to pull out all the stops in the singles to beat Border 5 – 4. Continue reading

2016SAIPT_RuanEstiaanConradie_GNGUPORT ALFRED, 19 September 2016 – The Fish River Sun Country Club lived up to its billing as one of the Eastern Cape’s toughest tests as the first round of the 56th South African Inter-Provincial Championship, sponsored by Tempest, turned into a tale of wind and woe.

Gauteng North, Southern Cape and Ekurhuleni made most of the gentle conditions to hoard some points in the foursomes before the east-north-easterly wind bared its teeth in the afternoon.

Having painted defending champions Central Gauteng into a corner with a 2 point lead, Gauteng North rode their momentum to a 7.5 – 4.5 victory. Continue reading

SA pair joint 25th at Duke of York

2016DOY_DanielleDeon_Rnd3_GNGUSOUTHPORT, England (16 September 2016) – South African juniors Danielle du Toit and Deon Germishuys wrapped up their Duke of York Young Champions Trophy campaign in a tie for 25th at Royal Birkdale on Thursday.

On another glorious day on the Lancashire Coast, reigning Nomads SA Girls champion Du Toit from Gauteng North signed off with a birdie-birdie finish for a 78.

Germishuys from Western Province – the winner of the 2016 Nomads SA Boys U-19 Stroke Play Championship – returned a 75 in the final round and finished alongside Du Toit and Peyton Callens from Canada on 14 over 230. Continue reading
