On Tuesday 27 November, our Gauteng North team to represent our province in January 2013 at Centurion was honoured by the GNGU, and had handed over to them their GN Colours. The colour presentation ceremony was held at the GNGU office at Irene attended by players and parents. The players were awarded GN colours by being top 6 in the DOOM for 2012, having 16 counting rounds of tournament play.

On the 6th of December 2012, our U19IPT team will fly to Paarl to participate in this years IPT. The U19IPT is the most sought after event in a junior’s career with any golf union. To be chosen for this event in itself is an enormous achievement and we salute you.

The tournament will be held over 5 days and a gruesome 36 holes a day awaits them

We wish these 8 boys the best of luck. We know they can play golf, so all that’s left to do is to say “BRING THE CUP BACK TO GAUTENG NORTH!!!”

Our 2012 golf day and awards evening took place Sunday 14 October at the Pebble Rock country club. The day greeted us with superb weather and the golf day was host to 80 participants. The day was led from start to finish by our golf day winners Gerrie and Stals Swart. Well done to this father and son combination, shooting a 69 NET in the foursomes format. They walked off with a 4 night stay in a Dullstroom holiday house sponsored by Charlie Penzhorn from Thabazimbi.Our evening was well represented with 120 guests treated to some top notch food and drink from JBM caterers – in house to Pebble Rock. The evening started with a bang with awards and certificates going to many golfers from ages 9 to 18.

Our A – Division matchplay champion Daniel Becker (right) was there to accept his floating trophy for his win in this year’s tournament held at Waterkloof. This trophy has been with us since 2002 and has also been won by the likes of George Coetzee and Louis de Jager.

Our B – Division matchplay trophy was won by Ross Sinclair (left). This trophy was bought in 2011 and hopefully will also brag some great names 10 years down the line.

Our men’s golf player of the year award went to Tristen Strydom (below)

Our lady golf player of the year went to Carrie Park (top). She was also the winner of this trophy in 2011
