GNGU Teams of Two

The 2018 GNGU Team of Two Tournament was held on the 16th of September at Silver Lakes Country Club. Adding to the initiative to grow the smaller events and to give more golfers the opportunity to play, the tournament was open to both men and women with no handicap limit. The tournament had 30 pairs entered.

The format of the day was Betterball Medal Net in the morning and Foursomes Medal in the afternoon. It was a battle of the local players with Madeleine de Wet and Franci Coetzee on a total of 135.5 nett snatching victory with only 0.5 between them and second place Willem Kloppers and Yolandi Kloppers who had the best morning round of 58 nett.  Third place went to Joe Mnyandu and Clifton Stanley.

The next teams event is on the 7th of October at The Els Club at Copperleaf.  This is the Coronation Cup.  It is another opportunity for any affiliated golfer to enter and have a fun day out on the golf course.  CLICK HERE to enter online for this event.

GNGU Events – October

Entries for the following events are now open: –

Coronation Cup – 7 October 2018.  This tournament is a 18 hole Mixed Betterball event taking place at The Els Club, Copperleaf.  It is open to all affiliated golfers, however pairs must be mixed gender in order to enter.  CLICK HERE to read more about the event and to enter.

PWC Silver Salver – 19 – 21 October 2018.  The annual Silver Salver event has reverted back to a Stroke Play tournament, taking place over 72 holes at Irene Country Club.  This tournament is open to male affiliated golfers with a handicap index of 4 or less.  GolfRSA and World Ranking points are available for those competing in this event.  CLICK HERE for further information and to enter.

2018 Foursomes

The 2018 GNGU Foursomes was held at Zwartkop CC on Sunday 26 August.  In an effort to grow the event and give golfers of all ability the opportunity to play, the tournament was open to men and women with no handicap limit and it was fantastic to have 59 pairs entered.   Dawid Opperman and Dino Cappazario, both having recently been chosen to represent GNGU at the upcoming Premier IPT proved their selection, winning the A Division on 140 over the 36 holes, 1 shot ahead of IPT team mates Jacques van Tonder and Christopher van der Merwe.

B Division gross was won by Paul Davel and Clint Broeders and the winning mixed pair division was Andre Du Bruyn and Chantelle Usmar.  Bongiwe Shabalala and Di Dyason won the overall nett prize.

Mid Am IPT Selection

It gives us great pleasure to announce the following team who have been chosen to represent us at the 2018 Mid Amateur Inter Provincial Tournament taking place at Kimberly Golf Club 8 – 12 October 2018.

Womens IPT Team 2018

It gives us great pleasure to announce the following team who have been selected to represent Gauteng North at the upcoming Womens Inter Provincial Tournament to be held at Stellenbosch GC from 1 – 5 October 2018.

A Week of Celebration

The Union has been very lucky over the years to have people who are dedicated and passionate, not only about the game of golf, but growing the game and our Union.  We would like to wish 3 of these people, who celebrated some milestone birthdays this week, a very happy birthday.
