GNGU Nomads Jnr Girls & GNGU Women’s Mid Am & Snr Open

Wingate Park Country Club was in absolutely magnificent condition and it was great to host the 2020 GNGU Nomads Junior Girls and GNGU Women’s Mid Am and Senior Open there.
Defending her 2019 title, Kiera Floyd once again lifted the Nomads Junior Girls trophy.  We are privileged to have Nomads Northerns support the Junior Girls tournament annually – Nomads do incredible work for Junior golf throughout South Africa.
The Mid Am Trophy for 2020 was won by Gina Da Silva from Centurion Country Club.  A prize was also awarded to the best Senior, Patricia Swarts from Modderfontein Golf Club.
Both tournaments saw prizes awarded to players in A, B and C Division as well as net prizes.  We are hoping to grow this event annually and thank all players for their support.
We also thank Wingate Park CC for their hospitality and their Committee and members for giving up the course to host the event.

Jarvis takes GNGU Open title

The 2020 GNGU Open was held at Centurion Country Club from 24 – 26 January.  Even with some rain and very wet conditions on the first 2 days, the players seemed to enjoy the course and after 36 holes, 67 players made the cut, with Casey Jarvis leading by 2 shots.
Round 3 saw Jarvis have a second bogey free round and extend his lead by another shot going into the final 18.  But in between the excitement of 2 hole in one’s during the tournament (Andrew Inggs and Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation’s Letsoso Letsai), as well as an albatross by Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation member, Siyanda Mwandla, Casey Jarvis kept his stride and ended up winning the tournament on 259 (-25) a fantastic 8 shots ahead of nearest fellow competitor Ryan van Velzen.

A huge thank you needs to go to Centurion Country Club management and staff for all their hard work on ensuring the course was in great condition, considering the flooding a month ago.  Thank you also to the Committee and members for giving up the course and allowing us to host this tournament here.
