A successful SA Amateur for Gauteng North players

Since tournament golf resumed,
Christiaan Maas has finished in the top 10 at every National Ranking tournament, with three 1st place finishes in 7 events.   Trophy winner of the GNGU Silver Salver and GNGU Open, as well as the winner of the Gauteng North All Amateur Series, he was always going to be a favourite this week at the SA Amateur.  The young Pretoria Country Club golfer managed to defeat the Qualifying tournament winner, Jack Dyer, in the 36 Hole final and is now the holder of the most prestigious trophy in SA Amateur Golf.  Congratulations Christiaan!

GNGU Nomads Jnr Girls, Mid Am & Snr Women Champs

The 2021 GNGU ladies season has started with a bang after a rain affected 36 hole tournament at Waterkloof Golf Club on 31 January.
It was fantastic to see a full field of entries for the respective tournaments and despite the rainy weather all the ladies were eager to play.  Unfortunately a delay due to the greens being water logged and a further delay due to lightning meant the tournaments had to be reduced from 36 to 18 holes.
Congratulations to Gabrelle Venter from Bloemfontein GC who won the Junior Girls A Divsion, Liezl Smit from Vryheid GC who won the Mid Amateur A Division.
As always, Nomads Northerns stepped in and sponsored the Junior Girls side of the event.  This makes a huge difference in adding value for the players and we sincerely appreciate the support.
A huge thank to you must go to Waterkloof Golf Club for their hospitality.  Nothing was too much and the Club assisted in every way that they could in ensuring we had a successful event.  We also thank the membership for giving up the course and allowing us to host the tournaments there.

The 2021 GNGU Senior Open was held at Services Golf Club.
The course was in superb condition and we thank their staff for all their assistance, as well as their Committee and members for giving up the course and allowing us to host the event here.

Zwartkop Country Club’s William Skinner set the pace with an opening round of 67 and kept his cool with a 69 in the second round and took the 2021 with a total of 136, a fantastic 8 under par.  Brian Naidoo from Walker Park finished in 2nd position on level par, with a few behind him on 1 over.
