2019 GNGU Women’s Open

The 2019 GNGU Women’s Open and Bronze Champs was held 7 & 8 July at Centurion Country Club.  The players braved frozen greens and icy wind both mornings, and there was some very impressive golf played in all divisions to make for exciting finishes.  Congratulations to Caitlyn MacNab who finished on 217 to win the A Division, Nelia Swanepoel on 269 who won the B Division and Rita Teka who won the C Division on 63 points.

Thank you to the players for entering, and especially Centurion Country Club for giving up their beautiful course and their fantastic hospitality.

A huge thank you to the Reunion Golf Association, who bring some of their sponsors on board for this event to give one lucky player a trip to Reunion.  The following is included in the prize – flights courtesy Air Austral, accommodation courtesy Boucan Canot, excursions courtesy Reunitours.  We thank the Reunion Island Tourism Board and Reunion golf association for their continuous support.

GNGU Mid Am & Snr Closed

The 2019 Mid Amateur and Senior Closed was held at Zwartkop Country Club.
This 36 hole tournament, played over 2 days is always closely contested with the best of the local mid amateur and senior golfers ending.  The seniors proved to be coming out tops with Derik Piek and Neil Goosen both going into round 2 on -2, a 1 shot lead over leading mid amateur Menno Malherbe.  However an excellent final round of -5 and overall score of -2 for the tournament gave Wingate Park CC’s Nicholas Geerts the title of 2019 GNGU Mid Amateur Closed Champion.  Neil Goosen took his home ground advantage, finishing with 3 birdies in a row to take the Senior Closed trophy, finishing on level Par for the tournament.

We would like to thank all players who participated, as well as Zwartkop CC management, staff and members.
