CAPE TOWN (22 May 2015) – The final outcome of the 2015 Challenge Cup Teams Tournament was poised on a knife’s edge, but when the last putt dropped at Milnerton Golf Club on Friday, the South African Golf Association’s Junior Team were crowned the champions.

CAPE TOWN (21 May 2015) – The South African Golf Association’s Junior Team and Western Province are deadlocked heading into the final round of the Challenge Cup Teams Tournament after a thrilling fourth round at Milnerton Golf Club on Thursday.
The SAGA Juniors beat the South African Universities side (USSA) 7.5 – 4.5, while Western Province pulled another rabbit out of the hat to score a narrowly 6.5 – 5.5 victory over a feisty Presidents Team.
The victories left the two sides tied at six points, but the SAGA Juniors will have a huge advantage heading into the final round. Continue reading
CAPE TOWN (20 May 2015) – Central Gauteng terminated Western Province, while the South African Golf Association’s Junior Team and the South African Universities side (USSA) enjoyed success in the third round Challenge Cup Teams Tournament at Milnerton Golf Club on Wednesday.
Although Central Gauteng still have some work to do, the eight-man side showed incredible team spirit to rally after a second round loss to USSA and score a comprehensive 8.5 – 3.5 victory against the host union. Continue reading
CAPE TOWN (19 May 2015) – The South African Golf Association’s Junior Team and the South African Universities side (USSA) recovered from first round losses with superb performances in the second round of the Challenge Cup Teams Tournament, while Western Province strengthened their title bid in a tightly fought contest at Milnerton Golf Club on Tuesday.

CAPE TOWN (18 May 2015) – Central Gauteng got their title defence in the Challenge Cup Teams Tournament underway with a solid opening round performance, while Gauteng North launched a spirited comeback in the Singles to down the South African Universities side (USSA) and Western Province narrowly edged out the SAGA Juniors on day one of the prestigious national team event at Milnerton Golf Club on Monday.
The defending champions lost a game and halved two others in the Foursomes against the Presidents Team, but positive results from Neal Herman, Jason Rossiter, Werner van Wyk, Rupert Kaminski and Ryan Dreyer put the side 7 – 2 ahead. Continue reading
12 May 2015 – South Africa’s number one ranked Tristen Strydom continued his hot streak, claiming his third podium finish in five weeks at Port Shepstone, while Gauteng North’s Jason Smith cemented his third spot in the SAGA Open Amateur rankings with a top three finish in the KwaZulu-Natal Open Championship title on Sunday.
Strydom carded rounds of 69, 65, 66 and 70 to triumph on 18-under-par 270. He finished five strokes clear of Western Province’s Sean Bradley, while Smith from Irene finished seven strokes off the pace after closing with a six-under-par 66. Continue reading
The golfing gods were smiling on Pretoria’s Andrew van der Knaap, who put the seal on a magnificent performance in KwaZulu-Natal with a runaway victory in the Prince’s Grant Amateur in early May.
The 22-year-old Centurion Country Club golfer triumphed on 14-under-par 274, finishing 12 strokes clear of fellow Gauteng North amateur Philip Kruse and Rupert Kaminski from Central Gauteng.
Van der lagged three strokes behind fellow TuksSport Golf Academy player Teaghan Gauche after an opening 70, but proved unstoppable once he got the bit between his teeth. Continue reading
