The 2020 GNGU Open was held at Centurion Country Club from 24 – 26 January. Even with some rain and very wet conditions on the first 2 days, the players seemed to enjoy the course and after 36 holes, 67 players made the cut, with Casey Jarvis leading by 2 shots.
Round 3 saw Jarvis have a second bogey free round and extend his lead by another shot going into the final 18. But in between the excitement of 2 hole in one’s during the tournament (Andrew Inggs and Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation’s Letsoso Letsai), as well as an albatross by Ernie Els & Fancourt Foundation member, Siyanda Mwandla, Casey Jarvis kept his stride and ended up winning the tournament on 259 (-25) a fantastic 8 shots ahead of nearest fellow competitor Ryan van Velzen.
A huge thank you needs to go to Centurion Country Club management and staff for all their hard work on ensuring the course was in great condition, considering the flooding a month ago. Thank you also to the Committee and members for giving up the course and allowing us to host this tournament here.
